The seed for Beau’s Buddies Cancer Fund was first planted by members of the Greenville, NC community who
recognize, through personal experience, the struggle that cancer patients and their families endure.
Hugh Parham "Beau" Stanley III
was born June 19th, 2005, in Greenville, NC. Beau was diagnosed on Nov. 17th, 2006 with High Risk Stage III
Neuroblastoma. After fighting a long hard battle, Beau earned his angel wings and went to Heaven on Nov. 29th, 2007.
Our organization is named in honor of Beau Stanley and serves to accomplish some of the tasks that embody “Friends
helping Friends” of which Beau would be proud. www.beaustanley.com

John W. Gibbs, III MD, PhD was diagnosed with a Mediastinal Stage II
Liposarcoma on May 7th, 2007. Dr. Gibbs underwent extensive chemotherapy and a successful surgical
resection of the sarcoma. On November 10th, 2007, he was declared to be in remission by his
treating physicians. During his hospitalization and treatment, he experienced the anguish and pain of fellow
cancer patients and their families. While in the hospital, he focused and dreamed of one day helping others
like those with which he struggled by raising funds to support the many needs encountered by cancer patients and their families.
Friends who are committed to the goals of Beau’s Buddies Cancer Fund join him in the realization of this dream.
